Philharmonic Fling

July 19 Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra - "The Philharmonic Fling!"Ed Macgregor Park The Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing the 8th annual Philharmonic "Fling!", an open air pops concert in a park by the sea in Sooke. 2:30 PM. The gates open at 1 PM to allow everyone to stake out their favourite spot (bring a blanket or lawn chairs), and perhaps enjoy a picnic, either bring your own or enjoy the on site concession. Under the baton of conductor Christopher Taber, soloists are Merrie Klazek, trumpet, and Julian Vitek, violin. The theme of this year's Fling is "Fanfares and Gypsies". The afternoon will also include an appearance by The Sooke Pipes and Drums under Pipe Major Angus Stanfield. Admission to the concert is FREE, the Sooke Philharmonic's recession fighter! The concert is sponsored in part by Butler Brothers Supplies Ltd., the Don Chrysler Memorial Fund, and the Egon Baumann Music Foundation.
