When it comes to wedding gifts we all consider the household gift giving of a fabulous espresso machine, a set of quality knives or the latest and greatest cookware. Don't even think of linens unless you know the couple very well. The days of the wedding registry are so last century. Many couples today opt for travel registires, mortgage help cash or why not a case of quality wine?
Wine regerstries are becoming more popular south of the border. They are usually linked to wine merchants and wine stores. One option is to register with http://www.wedstudio.com/ where you pay a fee, personalize a template and update as you like. People then can contribute cash to your dream. You could create a blog, email list, email card with pictures of your favoirte wine wish list. Of course, word of mouth also works well. You will want to mention what type of wine works best for you. Is it a wine that works best with an evening BBQ? or something that is quaffable anytime? Is it an organic wine or a dessert wine?
Narrow your tastes down by letting your guests know what region you prefer the wine to come from. Do you prefer Italian, German or BC wines? Of course there is always great variety from Washington and Oregon.
Don't forget sparkling wines. It's appropritate for every occasion and pairs nicely with almost anything.
Wine is availble at all price points making it an easy fit for every gift giver's budget. Shopping for wine is also easy. Wines in BC Liquor stores are laid out by country so it's easy to find just what you are looking for. Staff can also assist you in finding exactly what you are looking for they are a wealth of knowledge, ready to assist you and can help you discover delicious, interesting wines in any price range.
Of course, wines just aren't for weddings. Consider using wines as Christmas gifts, birthdays and anniversarys too! Best of all wine is easy to shop for, and easy to wrap and always well received.

Wine Pairs with Grilled Vegetable Pizza
It's Ralph's birthday Sunday Aug 23rd and we are hosting a party for him at Sooke Ocean Resort. The theme of the party is BBQ. We will be having fresh salmon, crab, prawns, and grilled vegetable pizza. But what do we pair with the vegie pizza? Simonsig Chenin Blanc from South Africa is the perfect mix of floral, ripe peach and pear aroma that meld into a mild palate of honey, pineapples and melons flecked with minerals and enough acidity with cheese and grilled veggies OR we could try Wirra Wirra Scrubby Rise sauvignon Blannc from Australia. It is fresh and drywith grassy, green melon, grapefruit floours flecked with lime rind and homey. A perfect match for a vegetarian pizza.
